Are people with psoriasis at increased risk of developing psoriatic arthritis?

Last Updated:

20–30% of patients with psoriasis will develop psoriatic arthritis.[1] Sometimes the psoriasis is not readily detected if it occurs on the scalp or nails. Psoriasis doesn’t always precede arthritis, however, since 10–15% of patients will develop arthritis before psoriasis.[2]
