The study

Participants with and without cognitive impairment were included. They took anthocyanins (33–425 mg/day) from sources such as blueberries, cherries, grape juice, or supplements, typically for durations of 8 to 24 weeks. The control groups received a placebo.

The meta-analysis found that anthocyanins had no effects on working memory, verbal memory, immediate memory, or delayed memory.

The included studies showed mostly a low to moderate risk of bias, and there was substantial heterogeneity among studies.
