Multi-herb treatment shows promise for erectile dysfunction Original paper

In this randomized controlled trial in 85 men with erectile dysfunction, a multi-herb formulation taken twice daily for 90 days improved erectile function, sexual desire, and overall sexual satisfaction, compared to a placebo.

The study

The multi-herb formula contained extracts from 8 herbs, including ashwagandha and Tribulus terrestris.

The herbal treatment increased erectile function scores by 92%, compared to 35% for placebo. It also improved orgasmic function (98% vs. 17%), sexual desire (73% vs. 28%), and overall sexual satisfaction (92% vs. 24%). Testosterone levels increased by 46% with the herbal treatment versus 3% with placebo, but both groups maintained testosterone levels within a normal range throughout the study.

Both groups reported similar mild side effects (approximately 9%).

The study was conducted by a company that sells herbal supplements.
