The study
The analysis included a total of 5,300 participants (average ages of 18–69; average BMIs of 22–29) with breast cancer from 65 randomized controlled trials. The intervention durations ranged from 1 week to 12 months.
The researchers grouped the interventions into the following categories:
- Control: 60 studies; routine care and treatment by a nurse or doctor
- Yoga: 22 studies
- Other exercise: 20 studies; exercises other than the specific types mentioned
- Qi gong: 7 studies
- Home exercise: 5 studies
- Multimodal exercise, often featuring aerobic exercise: 5 studies
- Tai chi: 4 studies
- Dance: 3 studies
- Resistance training: 2 studies
