Is supplement use associated with fatigue? Original paper
In this prospective cohort study in 1,361 participants (average age of 61) in Switzerland, supplement use was associated with worse fatigue, but study limitations reduce our confidence in the findings.
This Study Summary was published on April 23, 2025.
The study
At baseline, the participants reported whether they’d used supplements in the previous 6 months and assessed their levels of fatigue using questionnaires. The researchers followed the participants for an average of 3.8 years.
There was a higher incidence of clinical fatigue and increased fatigue scores in supplement users versus nonusers.
