The study

The participants took either 450 milligrams of black-seed oil twice daily after meals or no intervention (the control).

The primary outcome, two-dimensional left ventricular global longitudinal strain (a measure of heart function), improved in the intervention group, compared with the control group.

LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol, malondialdehyde, and TNF-alpha decreased (improved) in the intervention group, compared with the control group. However, there was no difference between the groups for HbA1c.
