The study
This study used data from the 2011-2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) to examine the associations between B vitamin intake and cognitive impairment in 2,716 participants aged 60 or older.
Dietary intake of B vitamins was assessed by asking the participants to recall their diets over the past 24 hours at 2 different points in time (24-hour dietary recalls). Cognitive function testing included the Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer’s Disease (CERAD) word list learning test, the Digit Symbol Substitution Test, and the Animal Fluency Test.
