Intermittent fasting (IF)

Intermittent fasting (IF) is a general term for diets that involve prolonged periods of fasting (≥12 hours). Variants of IF include time-restricted eating, alternate-day fasting, and the 5:2 diet. In contrast to intermittent dieting, IF does not necessarily involve intentional caloric restriction; its main focus is on the timing of meals.
