Left Atrial Dimension
•Last Updated: April 30, 2025
Left atrial dimension (also known as left atrial volume) reflects the size of the left atrium of the heart. It is used in the assessment of diastolic function (how well the heart relaxes and fills with blood between beats). An increase in left atrial size is associated with increased all-cause mortality and ischemic stroke.
