The study
The 124 participants (average age of 66; 74% men, 26% women) were recruited from medical centers across China. A registered dietitian gave personalized lifestyle guidance to all of the participants, who were assigned to take either 300 milligrams of vitamin E or a placebo daily.
More participants in the vitamin E group had meaningful improvement in nonalcoholic steatohepatitis severity in than in the placebo group (29.3% vs. 14.1%).
