The study

Both diets were hypocaloric and consisted of 55% carbohydrates, 30% fat, and 15% protein. The time-restricted diet had an eating window of 8 hours, followed by 16 hours of fasting. The control diet was 3 main meals and 2 snacks per day.

Liver enzymes and weight decreased in both groups, with no differences between the groups. However, liver fat and liver fibrosis decreased more in the control group. Also, triglycerides decreased in the control group, compared to the time-restricted eating group, but changes in other blood lipids and measures of glycemic control did not differ between the groups.
