Naringenin belongs to a subclass of flavonoids known as flavanones. It is predominantly found in citrus fruits, such as grapefruits and oranges. Evidence from mostly animal and in vitro studies suggest naringenin has potential antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and cardioprotective properties.
